Arbroath Abbey is the ruin of a monastery founded in 1178 by William the Lion, on Abbey Street in Arbroath, and is closely linked with the Declaration of Arbroath. Its great west front and the round window known as the Round O survive, and the visitor centre has an exhibition on the abbey's history and the Declaration.
Historic Environment Scotland state on this site's own page: "Visitors' dogs are allowed at Arbroath Abbey, but are not permitted in roofed areas." Their site-wide rule adds that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, must not be left unattended, and that owners must pick up after them. Assistance dogs are permitted everywhere including roofed areas.
