St Andrews Castle is a ruined coastal fortress on The Scores in St Andrews, Fife, which served for around 450 years as a bishop's palace, stronghold and state prison. It is known for its bottle dungeon, the mine and countermine tunnelled during the siege of 1546-47, and the ornate Hamilton Facade, and an audio guide is available.
Historic Environment Scotland do not publish a line about visitors' dogs for this site. Their site-wide rule, from their own pages, is that assistance dogs are permitted at all their sites including roofed areas, that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and never left unattended, and that owners must pick up after them. Whether ordinary visitors' dogs are admitted here is not stated either way, so check the signs on arrival before counting on it.
