Skipness Castle and Chapel stand near the shore at Skipness on the Kintyre peninsula. The castle was founded in the early 1200s, probably by the MacSween family, and grew from a modest two-storey hall-house into a larger stronghold, while the chapel by the shore, built by the MacDonalds, is surprisingly well preserved.
Historic Environment Scotland do not publish a line about visitors' dogs for this site. Their site-wide rule, from their own pages, is that assistance dogs are permitted at all their sites including roofed areas, that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and never left unattended, and that owners must pick up after them. Whether ordinary visitors' dogs are admitted here is not stated either way, so check the signs on arrival before counting on it.
